On Saturday, August 24th, 2024, Coolbinia Oval played host to an unforgettable day of football with the Life Without Barriers Integrated Grand Finals. Both the A and B Divisions delivered spectacular matches filled with determination, skill, and sportsmanship, showcasing the very best of all abilities football.

B Division: Fremantle CBC v Mandurah Mustangs

The B Division final saw Mandurah Mustangs face off against Fremantle CBC in a hard-fought battle. Mandurah dominated from the start, maintaining a strong lead throughout the game. The Mustangs’ early momentum in the first quarter, leading with 20 to Fremantle's 4, set the tone for the match. Fremantle CBC tried to close the gap but struggled against Mandurah’s robust defense and attacking prowess.

Quarter by quarter, the Mustangs extended their lead, showing no signs of slowing down. By halftime, Mandurah had already amassed a commanding 34 points to Fremantle's 4. Despite a strong third-quarter effort from Fremantle, adding 19 points, they were unable to overcome the deficit. The final score saw Mandurah triumph with a decisive 45 (6.9) to Fremantle CBC's 30 (4.6).

Blair Quinn of Mandurah was rightfully awarded Best on Ground for his exceptional performance, consistently driving his team forward and showcasing excellent skill and leadership.

A Division: Willetton v Coolbinia

The A Division final brought together Willetton and Coolbinia for another intense showdown. Willetton came out strong, scoring 20 points in the first quarter while keeping Coolbinia scoreless. The second quarter saw Coolbinia begin to find their rhythm, but Willetton maintained their lead with a score of 29 to Coolbinia’s 0 by halftime.

In the third quarter, Coolbinia mounted a comeback with a spirited effort, scoring 14 points. However, Willetton's earlier efforts and consistent performance throughout the game were enough to maintain their lead. Despite a solid effort from Coolbinia, Willetton secured the win with a final score of 43 (6.7) to Coolbinia’s 20 (3.2).

Tyson Worthington of Willetton was named Best on Ground, demonstrating remarkable skill, vision, and tenacity throughout the match, leading his team to victory.

Creating a pathway for all abilities

Between the two Life Without Barriers Grand Finals, the Youth Integrated League was showcased with Coolbinia, Ellenbrook, Joondalup Kinross and Quinns Junior Football Clubs all displaying their skills. In the A Division, Quinns defeated Joondalup Kinross while in the B Division Ellenbrook won their match over Coolibinia.

WA All Abilities Football Specialist states “The purpose of implementing the Youth Integrated League into the All Abilities football pathway was to provide a platform for high school aged kids to play in a junior football format of competition in preparation for Integrated Football. The development and learning of not only football, but also social connection and competitive spirit was incredible from every player. A massive thankyou to all of the coaches, managers, parents and volunteers, if it wasn't for these people, the Youth Integrated League simply doesn't happen! The Life Without Barriers Integrated Grand Finals were a celebration of community, inclusion, and the spirit of football. Both matches highlighted the dedication of all players, coaches, and supporters, contributing to a memorable day at Coolbinia Oval. Congratulations to all teams for their outstanding efforts, and special recognition to Mandurah Mustangs and Willetton for their victories in the B and A Divisions, respectively.
