Men’s A Grade
Round 4 sees Scarborough, who ended the 2024 season 8th on the ladder, narrowly escaping a bump down to B Grade, face up against Ocean Ridge, who finished last season 5th on the ladder. Ocean Ridge has gone undefeated in the first 3 rounds of the season, while their competition has secured 2 wins and 1 loss.
Scarborough opened with a behind and quickly followed with a goal from a free kick. Ocean Ridge responded with a behind and added two more, but Scarborough surged ahead with another behind and two goals. In the final 90 seconds, Ocean Ridge grabbed their first goal and a late behind.
Ocean Ridge opened with a behind, but Scarborough quickly took control, scoring 2 goals at the 19-minute mark. Another Ocean Ridge behind followed, before Scarborough added a third goal and another behind. With 45 seconds left, Ocean Ridge secured their second goal.
The 3rd quarter started 39-18
Ocean Ridge’s winning streak is stopped by Scarborough, who secure their 2nd win with a final score of 74-51. However, Ocean Ridge still sits higher on the ladder at 4th while Scarborough sits at 6th.
Women’s A Grade
The round 4 weekend kicked off with Bullcreek Leeming going up against North Beach. The reigning B Grade Grand finalists, Bullcreek Leeming, have had a tough start to their 2025 season in A Grade, so far losing their first 3 games. The team went into round 4 desperate to achieve their first win. Going up against North Beach, who have 1 win under their belt so far this season, both teams will fight hard to climb the ladder.
The game started with a quick behind by North Beach, then midway through the 1st quarter, North Beach scored 2 goals in under 2 minutes, with Bullcreek quickly following with a goal of their own to get on the board. The quarter ended with another behind for North Beach, ending the quarter 14-6.
North Beach turned up the heat in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, scoring a total of 4 goals and 3 behinds, going into the final quarter 41-6.
Less than 3 minutes into the 4th quarter, North Beach scored their 7th goal of the game. Bullcreek, wanting to disrupt North Beach's momentum, scored a behind, but it wasn’t enough to shake the other team, as North Beach rounded out their incredible game with a behind and 1 final goal. North Beach wins the game 54-7, making it 2-2 for their season and sits safely at 5th on the ladder.
It was an unfortunate round for Bullcreek Leeming, who now sit bottom of the ladder. With the possibility of being bumped back down to B Grade, Bullcreek must work extra hard in the next couple of rounds to climb the ladder and get out of the bottom 2.

Women’s C3 Grade
In the 2025 season, Kingsway welcomed their first women’s team, debuting in the C3 grade. They face up against Quinns District in round 4. Quinns District ended the 2024 season 5th on the ladder in C3 and goes into the 2025 season with a desire to climb the ladder to the top.
Kingsway kicked things off with 2 goals in the last 7 minutes of the 1st quarter, followed by a 3rd with 1.5 minutes left of the quarter.
It was a slow start to the 2nd quarter until the midway point when Kingsway scored 2 behinds, followed quickly by 2 goals, making it 5 goals going into the 2nd half. They rounded out the 1st half with a 3rd behind, making the score 33-0.
Midway through the 3rd quarter, Kingsway managed 2 consecutive behinds and then their 6th goal. At the 5-minute mark, Quinns player Emma O’Reilly took a nasty fall that saw her escorted off the field. After the unexpected stop in play, Kingsway secured their 7th goal with 2.5 minutes left.
Kingsway started the last quarter with a quick goal, making it their 8th goal of the game. Quinns managed to put one on the board, with their 1st goal, but it wasn’t enough against Kingsway, who ended the last quarter with 3 behinds.
Kingsway shows that experience does not always win out against determination, as they now go undefeated in the first 4 rounds of their debut season, and they sit securely at 2nd on the ladder. If the team keeps showing this level of drive for the rest of the year, a bump up in grades looks to be on the horizon.
Quinns District has had a difficult start to the season, struggling to find their rhythm. The team will be desperate for a win in the next few rounds to make it out of the bottom 2.
