Who are we?

The University Football Club has a proud tradition which dates back to the early 1900s. The club was founded in 1911 and Season 2011 represented the club’s 100th season. During that time it has been part of three leagues; The Metropolitan Junior Football Association, the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and the league it is affiliated with currently, the Perth Football League (formerly the WAAFL). We have over 300 dedicated players, coaches and support staff that contribute to the 8 teams within the PFL.

Job Description

We are on the lookout for the head coach of our A Grade men’s team in the Perth Football League (AFL). The University Football Club is transitioning into an exciting new era with a state of the art facility close to completion, it’s an incredible time to be involved. The league coach will be responsible for implementing a football program based on strong leadership, high standards & individual player development.

This role presents a unique opportunity to make a positive impact and continue laying the foundations for sustained success.

Key Focus Areas of the Position are;

  • To provide long term senior players for the University Football Club
  • Place a high importance on relationship building
  • To create an environment that is conducive to both development and enjoyment
  • Contribute to the development of skills, physical attributes, football knowledge, personal growth and self esteem of all players
  • Establish, implement and coordinate appropriate training programs that maximise the development of all players
  • Embrace the University Football club culture
  • Understand the balance of setting standards but embracing the enjoyment of playing football.
  • Align football programs (Colts, Men & Women) to work cohesively together with a ‘one club’ mentality. 
     

About the candidate

Requirements would include;

  • Minimum Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation (attained or working towards)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Knowledge of the WA Football landscape
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed leadership skills
  • Previous head coaching experience desirable
