John Watters will lead the West Coast Eagles State Amateur Team in 2019 while Brent McPherson will coach the West Coast Eagles State Colts Amateur Team.
John Watters has coached amateur teams in both the Perth Football League and WA Country Football League. While in the country he represented the Perth Football Club coaching their U/16’s country squad for the annual carnivals.
John was given an opportunity last season to coach and learn alongside Rob Wiley at the East Fremantle Football Club in the development league as a midfield line coach.
John is currently an Associate Principle and has a background in Health and Physical Education teaching.
The state program will be an open age competition this year instead of an under 23's competition as it has been in previous years.
The State Colts side will be led by Brent McPherson who currently plays for the Swan Athletic Football Club. He has played over 200 games of amateur football from A - E Grade. Brent was part of the State program in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and won the B Reserve association best and fairest in 2018.
Brent has been involved in line coaching roles at club level in the Perth Football League for the past few years including filling the role of league coach during the absence of the head coach.
John Watters takes over from Clint Testa while Brent McPherson takes the reigns from Stephen Healy.
