The Hamersley Carine FC and local community have been rallying behind Darcy Keeley, nephew of Hamersley Carine President John Keeley. Darcy has recently been diagnosed with leukaemia and is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy and will require a bone marrow transplant. At this stage there is no matching bone marrow donor.
The club are raising awareness in getting as many people to register as a bone marrow donor with the Red Cross.
Donation involves visiting your local Lifeblood Donor Centre, 15mins of blood giving and 45mins of forms, interview with a nurse, and snacks. Even if you’re ineligible to give blood you can still have a small blood sample taken, fill in a form and be put on the bone marrow registry.
CHALLENGE: If at least three quarters of your team get themselves down to their local Red Cross Lifeblood Clinic and donate blood, plasma and/or be put on the bone marrow registry Darcy's Aunty Kimberley Keeley will personally deliver a cold carton of berverages (variety of the team's choosing) to your next training session or game.
The club also have a fundraiser on Saturday 29 August at Carine Open Space from 7pm and have set up a GoFundMe page - http://gf.me/u/ydv5p7
