Saturday 15 May will see Curtin Uni Wesley Football Club host its 10th Anniversary of Pink Tiger Day, raising funds for the McGrath Foundation.
What started as the brainchild of club stalwart Mark Hayter a decade ago, has gone on to be the largest ‘grassroots’ level national contributor to the McGrath Foundation. Previous amounts raised have been upwards of $50,000 and the club is hopeful that 2021 will be another big year on all fronts.
Over the past 9 years, Pink Tiger Day has raised over $310,000 for the McGrath Foundation.
Fundraising comprises selling 10 Corporate Sponsorships, Ticket Sales ($100 x 200), Auctions (with numerous items donated by big & small businesses), and other ad hoc initiatives such as a run-a-thon coordinated by the local gym.
Tigers’ players are also asked to contribute by the doubling of their weekly match fees equating to an approximate $3,500 contribution.
The day sees guests mingle while being wined, dined and entertained by local live music acts while watching the club's League side don the famous Pink Tiger Jumpers.
“It’s great for our club to be involved in a cause as worthy as the McGrath Foundation and we find so many people are more than happy to support such a cause when asked to chip in. The event has become the highlight of our calendar” said Club President and Event Manager Jesse Wilson.
Perth Football League General Manager, David Armstrong, said “This is one of the great cases of a football club’s broader community coming together for a common cause and is a great example of our network at its finest.”
The event will take place on 15 May and its major partner for 2021 is Shakespeare Total Financial Solutions.
