North Beach battled it out against Trinity Aquinas for Round 10, Trinity will be looking to climb up the ladder this round.
North Beach came out firing, scoring 2 behinds in the first 3 minutes to set the tone early. They followed up with the 1st goal of the match, maintaining their early lead and adding another behind soon after. Trinity responded around the 13-minute mark with their 1st goal of the quarter. North Beach closed out a strong 1st quarter with another goal, gaining an early lead.
Trinity came out with renewed energy in the 2nd quarter, determined to close the gap on North Beach. Their determination paid off, as they slotted 3 goals in the span of 7 minutes, swinging the momentum in their favour. North Beach managed a behind, trying to stay within reach as Trinity took control heading into halftime.
After a quiet 2nd quarter, North Beach came out of the halftime break with intent. They opened the 3rd quarter with a goal and quickly followed it up with 2 behinds to gain early momentum. Another goal extends their lead before Trinity managed to interrupt their scoring streak with a behind. North Beach wasn’t done, they added 4 behinds over a 6-minute stretch, maintaining the pressure. They ended a dominant quarter with a 3rd goal, stretching their lead to 14 points heading into the final quarter.
Trinity came out strong in the final quarter, quickly shifting the momentum in their favour with 2 goals in the opening minute to close the gap. North Beach responded with 2 behinds before securing a goal of their own. Trinity answered with another goal, closing the margin to just 4 points. With 3 minutes left of the game, Trinity secured an impressive comeback by slotting 2 back-to-back goals and snatching the win.
The end of Round 10, sees Trinity Aquinas still towards the bottom of the ladder, narrowly avoiding the final 2 positions. They will need to continue to being this same determination to upcoming rounds to avoid dropping a grade.

A Grade Women’s
Two of the top teams in the Women’s A Grade faced off against each other in Round 10, University and Curtin Uni Wesley, who sit 3rd and 4th on the ladder.
The first half was a hard-fought with both teams battling not only each other but also heavy rain. The 1st quarter saw a slow start, with Curtin breaking through with a behind at the 14-minute mark. A tense stalemate followed, with University evening the score with a behind of their own in the final minute.
The 2nd quarter continued with both sides struggling to build momentum in the wet conditions. Curtin managed to break the deadlock with the game’s 1st goal at the 13-minute mark, before University added another behind to close out a tough first half.
With the rain easing up at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, both teams returned to the field with renewed determination. University came out strong slotting their 1st goal of the match, following it up with a behind and a 2nd goal in quick succession to take control of the game.
The final quarter started with both teams fighting hard, keeping each other from scoring, but unable to score themselves as well. Curtin secured a behind midway through the term, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback. With five minutes to play, University surged once more, sealing the win by 13 points with their 3rd goal.
Both teams still sit securely towards the top of the ladder, with University in 3rd and Curtin Uni Wesley in 4th. They’ll both have a newfound drive to try and take those top 2 spots to ensure themselves a spot in the finals.

C3 Grade Men’s
East Fremantle face off against Canning South Perth in Round 9, and also celebrate their Bravo Day, which brings awareness and celebration to the WA police force.
East Freo were quick straight off the back, opening the game with a behind before slotting the 1st goal of the match. Canning replied with a behind of their own, but East Freo kept the momentum, adding another goal and 2 more behinds to take control early.
Canning opened the 2nd quarter with their 1st goal from a free kick. East Freo responded with a behind, which Canning quickly matched. It wasn’t long before East Freo reclaimed their momentum, slotting 3 goals back-to-back. Canning secured a behind late in the quarter, but East Freo held strong heading into halftime.
East Freo picked up where they left off, opening the 2nd half with a behind, quickly matched by Canning. A tense battle ensued until East Freo broke through with their 6th goal of the game. Canning slotted a much-needed goal with 4 minutes left in the quarter to keep the pressure on heading into the final quarter.
Canning came out in the 4th quarter with renewed determination, kicking their 3rd goal and adding a 5th behind soon after. East Freo responded with a behind before slotting their seventh goal of the game. As the quarter wore on, conditions worsened with a strong wind picking up, making scoring tough for both sides. Despite the challenge, Canning managed to secure their 4th goal, however, it wasn’t enough to close the gap as East Freo held firm to the final siren.
Despite the lose Canning South Perth still hold their spot at the top of the ladder, while East Fremantle sit lower down at 6th. East Freo should take this same strength and determination to their next games if they want to climb their way up the ladder.
