Match of the round: Kelmscott vs Swan Districts
Round 10 of the Perth Football League integrated competition saw Kelmscott take on Swan Districts at John Dunn Memorial Oval, with Kelmscott looking for a top 3 finish come the end of the year and Swan Districts wanting to come off the bottom of the ladder.
With Kelmscott getting the first centre clearance early, they were showing signs that this was not going to be an easy game for Swan Districts. An early miss from Kelmscott did not stop the bulldogs from forcing a costly error from the Swans as they would turn that one point play into 7 points within a matter of seconds, taking the early lead. This would then be followed by another quick goal and the lead for the bulldogs would begin to grow.
Swan Districts defence were having a tough time seeing the ball in their attacking half as Kelmscott would dominate the opening quarter. Finally, after 3 straight unanswered goals by the bulldogs, Swan Districts would answer with one of their own from Anthony Kalimeris.
At quarter time, it was the bulldogs who had command of this game and showing the rest of the competition why they are a premiership contender in 2025.
A much better quarter from the swans saw them kick 2.1thanks to Anthony Kalimeris but it was very much a different story for the Bulldogs as a quarter of missed chances saw them kick 0.8 but still holding on to a 16-point lead at the main break, 4.11.35 to 3.1.19.
Although Kelmscott started the third quarter strongly with multiple inside 50s and clearances, the quarter started off as a style mate as both teams going hard at the football. The bulldogs would get the opening score of the quarter from Fraser Kickett but unfortunately the ball would smash into the post resulting in only a behind. A goal from Kelmscott saw them extend their lead but Swan Districts were straight on the attack from the restart as they get their first score of the third quarter. Kelmscott would pile on the goals as they would kick 3.2 to 1.1 in the third and take a 29-point lead in the final chance.
With the result more than likely out of reach, Swan Districts would do everything they could to try close the gap and mount a solid come back effort. Keeping Kelmscott scoreless in the final quarter, the Swan Districts forwards done everything they could but could only muster 4 behind for the quarter and ultimately would go down by 25 points to a string kelmscott outfit.
