Curtin added a behind, matched soon after by Ocean Ridge. Curtin’s pressure paid off late, as they slotted a 5th behind and followed it up with a crucial goal to regain their lead. Forrestdale started strong, opening with 3 behinds in the first 5 minutes before slotting the 1st goal of the game. They kept the pressure on with 2 more goals, gaining an early lead. Ocean Ridge responded with a behind and followed it up with their 1st goal. Forrestdale answered quickly with another goal, but Ocean Ridge stayed in the fight, kicking their 2nd goal in the final minute to close out a high-scoring and fast-paced 1st quarter.
Quinns District carried their momentum from the end of the 1st quarter, opening the 2nd with a behind. Forrestdale responded, kicking 2 quick goals to regain control. Quinns added another behind, but Forrestdale kept firing, slotting their 7th goal to push further ahead. A free kick secured Forrestdale their 4th behind, followed by 2 more to extend their lead. Quinns District managed another behind, but Forrestdale finished the quarter with an impressive goal right on the siren, heading into halftime with a solid lead.
