Men’s A Grade
Round 16 in Men’s A Grade saw Whitford fight it out against North Fremantle.
After a slow start to the match, North Freo opened the scoring with a behind. Whitford quickly took control, securing the 1st goal of the game and backing it up with a 2nd soon after. They then added 3 consecutive behinds before slotting their 3rd goal and following it up with a 4th behind. North Freo responded late with 2 back-to-back behinds to close out the quarter.
After another slow start to the term, North Freo broke through with their 1st goal of the match. Whitford answered with 2 consecutive behinds before North Freo slotted another goal to keep the contest tight. Whitford then added a behind, followed by their 4th goal of the game, and closed out the half with 1 more behind.
It was another slow start to the 3rd quarter, with Whitford opening the scoring with a goal, followed by a behind. They soon extended their lead by slotting their 6th goal of the match. North Freo hit back with a goal of their own and added their 4th behind, but Whitford had the final say of the quarter with 1 more behind.
North Freo opened the final quarter with a behind, but Whitford responded with 2 back-to-back behinds before slotting their 7th goal. North Freo kept themselves in the contest with a goal of their own, yet Whitford quickly regained control with another behind and their 8th goal of the match. North Freo rounded out the game with a final behind, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap as Whitford claimed an impressive 31-point victory.
Both teams have two more rounds to fight for a chance to stay in A Grade, as both are in the two bottom spots on the ladder.

Women’s A Grade
Women’s A Grade saw their Round 16 take place over the weekend, and in the last round before the finals, North Fremantle fought it out against Baldivis.
North Freo opened the match with a quick behind, but it was Baldivis who struck first with the opening goal of the game. North Freo responded with another behind, before Baldivis matched them with one of their own to close out the first quarter.
The 2nd term began slowly, with neither side finding much momentum until North Freo slotted their 3rd behind. Baldivis then answered with their own behind, rounding out a low-scoring 1st half.
North Freo opened the 3rd quarter with another behind before finally breaking through for their 1st goal of the match. After a brief lull in play, they added another behind and quickly followed it up with their 2nd goal, building a narrow lead.
Baldivis started the final quarter with a behind, then slotted a goal to close the gap. 2 consecutive behinds in the final stages saw Baldivis edge ahead, sealing a nail-biting 1-point victory.
Baldivis had already earned their place in the finals with their impressive scores throughout the season. All eyes were on North Fremantle, who were in close contention with Melville for the last spot in the finals. Unfortunately, North Freo’s loss saw Melville advance to the finals.

Men’s C1 Grade
Round 17 in C1 Men’s saw Kwinana face off against Ballajura. The day was also shared with Kwinana’s PanKind fundraiser.
Kwinana came out firing in the 1st quarter, opening the game with a behind before quickly following it up with a goal and a 2nd behind. They kept the pressure on, slotting 2 back-to-back goals to take early control. Ballajura responded with a behind and, minutes later, their 1st goal of the match. Kwinana answered with 2 consecutive behinds before capping off the quarter with another goal, heading into the break with an impressive 21-point lead.
Kwinana picked up right where they left off in the 2nd quarter, dominating the opening 6 minutes with 3 consecutive goals. They kept the scoreboard ticking with a behind before adding another quick goal to extend their lead. Ballajura managed to break the run with a goal of their own, but Kwinana closed out the quarter with their 6th behind, maintaining firm control of the match heading into halftime.
Kwinana continued to set the pace in the 3rd quarter, opening the 2nd half with a goal before adding a behind. Ballajura responded with 2 back-to-back behinds, but Kwinana quickly regained control, slotting their 10th goal and piling on 3 behinds in the space of just 2 minutes. Ballajura hit back with a goal and a behind, yet Kwinana kept their momentum, closing the quarter with another 2 behinds to further extend their lead heading into the final quarter.
After a brief lull to start the final quarter, Ballajura broke the silence with a behind, which Kwinana quickly matched. Ballajura then found some spark, slotting a goal, but Kwinana were quick to shut down any comeback hopes, answering with two goals of their own. Another behind extended their lead before they added their 13th goal and 15th behind of the game. Kwinana rounded out the match in style with one final goal, sealing a dominant 99–29 victory.
Energised by their PanKind fundraiser, which holds deep personal meaning for the club, Kwinana held the moment during the game and took the spectacular win. Putting themselves 3rd on the ladder and almost guaranteeing a spot in the finals.
