Life Without Barriers Integrated Preliminary Final Recap Wed, August 27, 2025 - 2:17 PM

An overcast afternoon greeted North Beach and university in the life without barriers B division preliminary final. With a grand final on the line for the winner, it was a do or die for both teams.

The nerves got to both teams as neither side could get any flow for the first part of the opening quarter until Reece McIntyre would score the opening goal for the Tigers. University would have a quick response but would only result in a minor score. As the scoring dried up both teams were able to counter attack each other’s attempts but ultimately Reese McIntyre would find his second goal. University would dominate the play in the late stages but it would be North Beach who would go into the quarter time break with a nine point lead.

Questions were asked by the North Beach coaching staff as university would dominate the second quarter and prevent any North Beach attack. University would then go on a scoring blitz kicking 5.2 to 0.2 in the second quarter to take a 21 point lead into the main break.

North Beach would answer the calling from the coach and would dominate the opening part of the third quarter with multiple opportunities in front of goal, they would soon find the first through Julian Miller and it would open up a run of five unanswered goals as they will take the lead midway through the third-quarter. University would find a goal late but would still find themselves down by eight points heading into the final change.

With 15 minutes left for one of these teams it was all or nothing but it would be North Beach who would kick away in the early stages of the final quarter booting the first four goals and booking themselves a spot in the grand final against Fremantle CBC and the fairytale debut season for university would come to an end.

Final Score:

North Beach 11.8.74

University 7.7.49
