Budget Car and Truck Rental Men’s A – Curtin Uni Wesley vs North Beach:
The Men’s A Grade Grand Final between Curtin Uni Wesley (CUW) and North Beach saw two big teams with larger-than-life players take to the field. With neither having played in the 2024 Grand Final, all eyes were on them to see who would take out the 2025 Men’s A Grade Premiership.
North Beach came out firing, dominating the first quarter with a series of goals. Alexander Marklew scored the opening goal within the first minute of the game, then backed it up with another two. Stephen Mansfield and Justin Prior slotted goals whilst Tait Saunders kicked a behind, taking North Beach to a 31-point lead with CUW yet to add to the scoreboard.
North Beach’s dominance didn’t stop as they refused to allow CUW an inch to manoeuvre on the field in the second quarter. Prior and Ryan Newick added points to the scoreboard as Lang kicked his first goal for North Beach. CUW’s defence held North Beach at bay with it being a low-scoring quarter. At half-time, CUW was yet to land a point on the scoreboard whilst North Beach was well in the lead by 39 points.
CUW found some resistance in the third quarter through Lachlan Dennis and Jack Gouge whose goals helped bridge the margin. North Beach responded in kind, refusing to let CUW make a comeback with Patrick Kelleher and Nicholas Reid both sinking goals. Prior continued to dominate in attack, adding another goal to the scoreboard. North Beach’s defence continued to shut down CUW on the field, leaving them with a solid 49-point lead at the end of the third quarter.
North Beach’s determination continued to contest the ball and shut CUW down in the last quarter. Reid added another goal to the scoreboard for North Beach whilst Harrison Brown provided a goal for CUW, but the damage was done. As the siren blared, North Beach erupted into cheers, celebrating their dominating 49-point victory over CUW and the second Grand Final win for the club on the day.
North Beach’s Nic Wells took out the Men’s A Grade BJ Giles Medal for Best on Ground after his selfless gameplay on the field set his teammates up every quarter, helping lock in North Beach’s win.

Budget Car and Truck Rental Men’s A Reserves – North Beach vs University:
North Beach took on University in Saturday’s Budget Car and Truck rental Men’s A Reserves Grand Final in another top-of-the-ladder clash. With both teams having beaten the other throughout the season, it was set to be the rematch of the day.
North Beach was first to land a point on the scoreboard, but it was University’s Leighton Howard who scored the first goal of the game. Christian Bottecchia responded with a goal after North Beach made quick work of the centre bounce and fed it into their attacking fifty. Tim O’Hara scored two goals off turnovers, helping University take the lead at the end of the first quarter 9-18.
North Beach turned up the intensity going into the second quarter, peppering University with a series of behinds in quick succession. Sean Trombetta and Henry Alforque added two goals to the scoreboard for University. North Beach continued its assault on the goals with Kai Marchetto scoring one, Tom Rance scoring two, and Bottecchia sinking his second. The second quarter wrapped up with University leading by just two points.
North Beach lifted again in the third term as Rance scored another two goals whilst Andrew Bartils and Alexander Thompson added their names to North Beach’s growing list of goal-scorers. O’Hara and Trombetta scored again for University, but the home-side’s pressure saw North Beach take the lead by the end of the quarter.
University took to the fourth quarter, eager to earn back the lead as O’Hara scored another goal early into the term and again later on. In the end, North Beach’s accuracy in front of goals saw them soar, with Marchetto and Howard scoring again. Tyson Wright and Jordan Brooks locked in North Beach’s 26-point victory with two goals in the last five minutes. Ryley Stuhldreier from North Beach was awarded the S. Miller Medal for Best on Ground in the Men’s A Reserves Grand Final

Electrical Group Training Phil Scott Colts – University vs Fremantle CBC:
The EGT Phil Scott Colts top-of-the-ladder clash between University and Fremantle C.B.C. (FCBC) was an epic opening match to Saturday’s Grand Final weekend. University was out to win back-to-back Premierships whilst FCBC was keen to topple them after failing to knock University over all season.
The game began with an intensity which saw both sides eager to take control early on. University was first to put a point on the scoreboard with a behind and backed it up soon after with Marco Ghiselli kicking the first goal of the day. FCBC responded with Jake Austin booting two goals to put them in the lead. With University earning another behind and FCBC kicking two, FCBC were up by 6 points at quarter time in an even early contest between the two teams.
The second quarter started with University on the attack, immediately sending the ball into their forward fifty. FCBC’s defence ramped up and prevented the reigning premiers from scoring and within minutes, FCBC’s Cameron Rusling turned it over and scored. Sam Irving backed it up with another for FCBC in front of goals and Ghiselli responded and kicked his second for University. With another behind from FCBC, the second quarter finished with University trailing FCBC 14-27.
FCBC’s momentum was on the rise with a goal from Archie Tames early in the third quarter. University’s Clancy Banfield added to his team’s scoreboard, but by this stage, it was clear FCBC’s formidable gameplay was slicing through University’s efforts. Rusling added another point to FCBC’s scoreboard whilst Austin kicked his third goal. The third quarter wrapped up with FCBC in a comfortable 19-point lead.
The final quarter saw University score early with Ghiselli earning his third and Louis Poulson scoring a behind. FCBC’s Zac Spark added his names to FCBC’s list of goal kickers as Tames, Irving and Rusling continued to contribute to the scoreboard. University earned another with Banfield scoring his second for the day, but there was nothing they could do against the on-field force that was Jake Austin who went on to score three more in the last quarter, including the last goal of the game.
The siren sounded and Fremantle CBC celebrated a dominating 42-point victory over University. After kicking six goals and helping fuel his teammates gameplay throughout every quarter, it came as no surprise that the G. Maskiell Medal for Best on Ground was awarded to FCBC’s Jake Austin.
