Curtin Uni Wesley held off Kingsway in a hard-fought 16-point win, doing enough across four tightly contested quarters to defeat last season’s minor premiers. While Kingsway controlled the tempo and had more of the ball, Curtin were far more efficient in the contest and in front of goal. Curtin’s dominance at stoppages was key, winning clearances (+8) and generating significantly more inside 50s (+13), which ultimately proved decisive.

Kingsway’s young recruit, Tyler Senge, was once again instrumental for Kingsway, finishing with 18 disposals and 8 tackles, consistently driving forward from midfield, while Blake Morris also contributed strongly with 15 disposals and 2 goals. For Curtin, George Wessels and Kade Stewart were the heartbeat of the midfield, linking effectively to generate forward momentum and apply sustained pressure. Ethan Maguire proved crucial for Curtin in the final term, notching up six vital clearances to halt Kingsway’s momentum and help Curtin hold on after a strong third-quarter surge from the visitors. Up forward, Tom Mackenzie, 3 goals, provided the important scoreboard impact, alongside Kyle Hamersley, impressive 15 disposals and 2 goals from midfield. Curtin’s midfield worked overtime winning at the contest, dominating the stoppages and working it into forward entries to see them take home a massive win for the season.

Mt Lawley recorded their first win of the season, defeating Ocean Ridge by 13 points. Ocean Ridge produced a midfield masterclass, with Liam Dellamarta putting up 35 disposals, while Brodie Matthew Gray was outstanding, finishing with 40 disposals, 10 tackles, and a goal in a dominant all-around performance from midfield. However, Mt Lawley proved more damaging with the ball in hand, generating more frequent and deeper forward entries that Ocean Ridge struggled to contain under pressure. Spider Lockitt produced his most influential performance of the season so far, finding space and driving Mt Lawley’s attacking movement. Mt Lawley’s passing efficiency helped set up forward opportunities, with Benjamin Cowdray converting his chances to finish with four goals in a clinical display in front of goal.

North Beach sit third on the ladder following an expected 80-point win but a hard-fought win over a Scarborough side that brought the physicality. North Beach Frank Anderson delivered a standout performance in front of a packed Charles Riley Reserve, finishing with 35 disposals and 3 goals, with Tom Lang putting up an equally impressive game kicking 5 goals. University’s 55-point win over Baldivis sees them swap positions with Fremantle CBC at the top of the ladder, as CBC held off a late surge from Trinity to win by 14 points and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

The next round features ladder-adjacent matchups, with every side facing the team positioned directly above or below them, setting up a tightly contested weekend across the competition. The headline clash sees CBC take on Uni, with top spot and the league’s only unbeaten record on the line. North Beach travel to Kingsway in a match that could see either side push into second spot with a win, while Ocean Ridge look to rebound from back-to-back losses as they host a red-hot Curtin Uni side. In the backend of the ladder, Scarborough hosts Baldivis in an unpredictable contest that will see one side break through for their first win of the season.

Curtin Uni Wesley continued their strong start to the season with a commanding win over a competitive Baldivis side, running out 57–17 winners as the Tigers showed their ability to control games through smart ball use in the midfield and strong forward-half pressure.

The other major clash of round 3 was a 2025 B-Grade grand final rematch, with Trinity Aquinas again taking home bragging rights over Hamersley Carine in a 63-point victory. Trinity looked a class above from the outset, with their pressure and composed ball movement proving too much for a Hamersley outfit that struggled to match the intensity and speed of a side currently operating at a different level. With multiple scoring options across the ground, Vice-Captain Jessica Schleicher continued her strong start to the season, finishing with 2 goals and taking her season goal tally to 6.

University narrowly held off Quinns District in a tight contest, scraping home 20–15 in a game where Uni’s defensive pressure was the defining factor. North Fremantle got their first win of the season in emphatic fashion, with Tayla Bresland leading the way with 2 goals in a dominant 56-point win over Melville, who continue to struggle to replicate their finals form from last season. Wembley are quietly climbing the ladder after finding their scoring rhythm in a dominant 45–0 win over North Beach.

Looking ahead to Round 4, Hamersley Carine will face another major test when they meet second-placed, unbeaten Curtin Uni Wesley. Baldivis take on Wembley in what has historically been a tight matchup, with Wembley edging the past two encounters. Despite back-to-back losses, Baldivis have shown promising signs and will be hoping those performances translate into a result this time around.

Cockburn Lakes remain undefeated with 3 other sides in B-grade after a scare in the 4th quarter saw Kalamunda kick 4 goals 2 behinds as Cockburn Lakes kicked 2 goals 2 behinds to scrape a 7-point win. Kalamunda’s Tyler Mouritz continues to put in solid performances in the forward line, finishing with five goals. However, Cockburn’s quality across the field, with Joshua Grant kicking three, along with captain Jacques Barwick and Jayden Little hitting the scoreboard for 2, ultimately proved the difference in a balanced team performance.

The battle between first and second was won out by Whitford, who proved too strong for North Fremantle, running out 32-point winners. After a competitive opening, Whitford’s ability to capitalise on scoring opportunities set them apart, with Jay Cutler and Baylee Payne each finishing with three goals in a solid attacking display.

Swan Athletic produced one of the most decisive bursts of the round, blowing the game open in the second quarter against Collegians, kicking 6 goals to Collegians 1. The Swans Will Parkinson and Cody Podmore each kicked three to cruise past collegians for 50 points at the final siren. Bullcreek Leeming also continued their goalscoring run in round 3, storming through Melville to a 70-point victory.

Melville hosted Bullcreek Leeming in a big Anzac Day clash. This being the first time the sides have met in a few years it was set to be great game. After a moving Anzac Day presentation, Bullcreek Leeming proved far too strong for the Rams running out 70 point winners 116 - 46.

Brentwood Booragoon’s recruitment over the off-season has been the major success so far in this season’s B-grade comp, as they overcame a quality West Coast side by 47 points. The first half was tightly contested, with West Coast controlling possession for longer stretches but struggling to convert their forward entries. Brentwood, by contrast, made the most of their opportunities with high-pressure attacking footy, forcing turnovers inside 50, moving the footy cleanly into goal-scoring positions. After the main break, Brentwood lifted another gear, kicking five straight goals in the third quarter to break the game open. Conor McPartland was crucial for Brentwood, slotting multiple goals as momentum swung, and new ruckman Sokaa Soka was key in Brentwood, unlocking the game through the middle. Brentwood took control in the second half, with the game unrecognisable by the final siren compared to the first half break. Brentwood’s relentless pressure and physicality wore down West Coast, effectively shutting down any forward momentum and turning the contest decisively in Brentwood’s favour.

Two big fixtures headline Round 4, with North Fremantle hosting the undefeated Swans as they look to bounce back into form, while Brentwood face a major test against early premiership favourites Whiteford’s. After some strong early performances, the Doggies could be on for an upset against the top dog in the league.

The C1 grand final replay between Kalamunda and Melville adds extra heat to the round, with both sides chasing their first win; expect the intensity to mirror their last encounter.

The clash between the bottom two sides saw Collegians come out 21-point winners over Piara Waters in a strong all-round performance, highlighted by debutant Coco Bennett, getting off to the perfect start with four goals.

The 2025 C1 premiers, Kelmscott, continue to prove why they deserve to be in and around the top spots, defeating a revitalised Swan Athletic outfit 36–21.

Top-of-the-table Scarborough maintained their perfect 3–0 record, holding off a strong challenge from Kelmscott in a high-quality contest. Despite a massive individual effort from Jacinta Stevens, who booted four goals, Scarborough’s dominant third quarter proved the difference as they closed out a 41–32 victory.

The only other undefeated side, Kwinana, also continued their strong start to the season with a 26–6 win over Ocean Ridge. Ocean Ridge struggled to convert opportunities, finishing with six behinds and no goals, while Kwinana made the most of their chances as Teah Taylor kicked all of the Knights’ goals, finishing with 4 goals and just 1 behind.

Looking ahead, Round 4 shapes as a key test for the top of the ladder contenders, with 4th-place Kelmscott set to face ladder leaders Scarborough in a highly anticipated matchup. 2nd-placed Kwinana travel to take on 3rd-place Swan Athletic, while at the other end of the table, Piara Waters and Warnbro meet in a crucial clash as both teams search for their first win of the season.

Round 3 delivered a mix of nail-biters and complete blowouts, with a few sides beginning to separate themselves early in the season. North Beach edged out Scarborough in a tight ANZAC Day clash, holding on for a 9-point win at Charles Riley Reserve. In a scrappy, low-scoring contest, North Beach proved the cleaner side when it mattered most. Two crucial fourth-quarter goals from Kelly Jones and Tom Dobson proved decisive, delivering North Beach their first win of the season.

University also maintained their perfect record with a commanding 88–16 win over Baldivis, showcasing their defensive strength by restricting Baldivis to their lowest score of the season. The win keeps them firmly entrenched at the top end of the ladder heading into a blockbuster Round 4 clash against Fremantle CBC.

Curtin Uni produced the most dominant performance of the round, dismantling Kingsway by 132 points in a one-sided affair. Thomas Hayward was unstoppable in the forward half, while captain Lucas Dobson continued his strong form through the midfield. Curtin now travels to Ocean Ridge, who narrowly kept their unbeaten record intact with a thrilling 45–43 win over Mount Lawley.

Elsewhere, matchups from the bottom half of the table are shaping as crucial ladder-defining contests heading into the end of Round 4. Kingsway are in with a strong chance of recording their first win when they host North Beach, while Baldivis also face a key opportunity to break through against Scarborough. With home ground advantage and past performances suggesting they can be competitive, both sides will be desperate to secure their first victory of the 2026 season.
