Round 4 Wrap: Budget Car and Truck Rental A & B Grade Men’s Women’s and EGT Phil Scott Colts Thu, May 7, 2026 - 1:22 PM

Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Men

The top of the ladder clash between Fremantle CBC and University was the pick of the bunch in Round 4, with CBC keeping their unbeaten streak alive, scraping past University by just 2 points (60–58). Despite University's constant pressure, CBC's clearance work and superior inside 50 entries ultimately proved the difference. University led at every change until the final siren, with Charlie Carrington-Jones and Ryan Hudson proving tough to deal with, combining for 5 goals. Up stepped Nash Miller and Tom Wright in the fourth, the pair calmly slotting two goals to seal a game they had been chasing all day. Matt Ward was everywhere with 33 disposals, 11 clearances and 8 inside 50s, while Wright's 30 disposals and game-deciding goal led the way for the winners. Jye Bolton with 29 disposals and 5 clearances, alongside defender Jaxon Douglas with 19 disposals and 5 intercept marks, were University's best in a brave losing effort — a result that sees them drop from first to fourth ahead of a tough clash with Trinity Aquinas this week.

North Beach put in the performance of the round in the Budget Car and Truck Rental A-Grade men's competition, dismantling a strong Kingsway side 116–47 in the most one-sided result of the week. Kingsway led at quarter-time thanks to goals from Braydn Furmark and Blake Morris, before North Beach flipped the game on its head with a dominant second quarter. From there, it was one-way traffic, with Alexander Marklew the standout — booting 6 goals from 17 disposals in a best-on-ground performance. Tom Lang was equally damaging with 4 goals, while the Tigers' ability to capitalise on turnovers — converting 16 scoring shots directly from opposition errors — proved impossible to contain. North Beach will host Ocean Ridge in an interesting matchup between two sides that excel at controlling possession.

Scarborough took their first win against Baldivis 88–50, though the margin was somewhat flattering. Scarborough were dominant through the first half before Baldivis hit back with five straight in the third to make them sweat. A complete performance from Zaac Morgan with 3 goals and 27 disposals, Jaxon Bizzaca's 21 disposals and 13 tackles, and Zachary Hill's 4 goals set Scarborough up to take a well-deserved win.

Trinity Aquinas got past Mt Lawley 66–49 in a match closer than the scoreline suggests. A close first quarter had Mount Lawley leading by a point before Trinity Aquinas turned the game on its head in the second with Ryan Vermeersch booting 3 goals and Ethan Hansen adding 2 to give Trinity Aquinas a handy half-time lead. Mt Lawley fought back in the third through Jack Zagar and Julian Ameduri to close the gap, but Keeshawn Cook and Zac Hayward put the result beyond doubt in the final term with two crucial goals. Mt Lawley couldn’t break deep into their forward 50, failing to make the most of Jedd Edwards 32 hit-out advantage due to Trinity Aquinas landing tackles at the contest when it mattered most. Ryan Vermeersch 4 goals, along with Keeshawn Cook 3 goals and 20 disposals, and Matthew Rodan with 19 disposals and 7 clearances led Trinity Aquinas, while Julian Ameduri with 23 disposals and 7 inside 50s was Mt Lawley's best.

Curtin Uni Wesley took home the win against a tough Ocean Ridge side 57–37 to sit comfortably in third. Ocean Ridge had the ball more, worked harder and tackled more, but couldn't make it count when it mattered — Brodie Matthew Gray was massive with 41 disposals, alongside Liam Dellamarta with 33 and Jaylen Brimson with 30, a trio that dominated possession but were ultimately frustrated by Curtin Uni Wesley’s defensive structure cutting off clean entries into their attacking 50. The game was won and lost in the forward half — Curtin Uni Wesley converted 7 goals directly from turnovers to Ocean Ridge's 3, and their 35 inside 50s to Ocean Ridge's 24 proved decisive. George Wessels with 29 disposals and 6 clearances led the way, while Ethan Maguire with 24 disposals and 5 clearances, and Kade Stewart with 22 disposals and 15 contested possessions were tireless through the midfield in a gutsy team win.

With Fremantle CBC out front and three sides breathing down their neck on 12 points, the race for the top four is shaping up as a tight one. A win for Trinity Aquinas against University in Round 5 would keep them firmly in the top four conversation.

Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Women

The invincible Trinity Aquinas continued their impressive run, but not without a challenge, facing their hardest game to date against a struggling Melville side who kept within a 2-goal margin until the final quarter, with the score finishing 63–32. Trinity's Aquinas vice-captain Jessica Schleicher put on a goal-scoring masterclass, kicking 5 to extend her lead as the competition's number one goalkicker.

Curtin Uni Wesley keeps up their unbeaten form, beating Hamersley Carine by 24 points with Elsie Taylor leading the way with 3 goals. The Tigers dominated the inside 50 count 35–20, winning the hitout battle 48–10, giving them a stranglehold on the contest all afternoon. Hamersley Carine weren't without a fight — they out-tackled the Tigers 70–52, and Amy Hunt's 20 disposals and 6 tackles put her among the best on ground, but the forward line couldn't convert when it mattered. As the only two sides yet to taste defeat, the looming clash between Trinity Aquinas and Curtin Uni Wesley shapes as a final in everything but name.

Wembley were on fire against Baldivis, shocking last year's grand finalist with a comprehensive 71–6 performance as the Brumbies struggled to recapture the form of last season. Baldivis look ahead to next week's game against in-form Quinns District, who continued their strong start to the season with a 38-point win over North Beach. Quinns’ inclusion of Katherine Bennett from West Perth has proved to be a great move as she kicked 4 goals.

University just scraped over the line in a close game against North Fremantle. University's captain Talietha Valentine bagged an important goal in her 50th game, alongside Caitlin Vallelonga, who stepped in from Subiaco to make her University debut. In the end, North Fremantle fell short by a handful of key moments, with University running away as winners 23–17.

Budget Car and Truck Rental B Grade Men

Whitford sits a class above the rest in the Budget Car and Truck Rental B Grade men’s competition for the time being, after dismantling a tough Brentwood Booragoon side 109–29. Fraser Foley and Michael Luplau both finished with 3 goals each, but the standout performance was big man Brendan Allen, who dominated in the ruck and slotted 2 goals in his 200th game for the club.

Cockburn Lakes continued their hot streak as the only side apart from Whitford not to lose this season, beating Collegians by 22 points. Jayden Little's 3 goals take him to equal second on the goalkicking ladder as Cockburn continues to find success through their young talent. Cockburn's first real test comes in Round 5 when they host North Fremantle, who are coming off a massive 79-point win against Swan Athletic. After suffering their first loss of the season, Swan Athletic face another tough test against Whitford — though Swan Athletic’s home ground advantage is a huge one, just twice there since the start of 2025.

Kalamunda picked up their first win of the season, smashing Melville 105–32 with a massive first quarter, kicking 6 goals while holding Melville to a point, Cooper Boyd headlining the win with 5 goals for the Cougars. Despite the heavy loss, Melville will look at their Round 5 matchup against Collegians as a big opportunity, with both sides searching for their opening win of the campaign.

Budget Car and Truck Rental B Grade Women

Scarborough continued their red-hot form in the Budget Car and Truck Rental Women's B Grade, beating Kelmscott by 120 points to remain the competition's standout side with a percentage just over 1000. Jenna Halliday and Jane Stockley led the way with 4 goals each, while Chloe Metcalf and Emma Philippe chipped in with 3 apiece.

Swan Athletic are shaping up as one of the surprise packages this season. Sitting second after beating Kwinana by 31 points, Swan Athletic have already matched their win tally from all of last year — after finishing just one spot off the wooden spoon in 2025.

Collegians got off the mark for the season, edging out Bullcreek Leeming by 35 points, while Ocean Ridge put on a clinic against Rossmoyne, with Taylor Evans kicking 5 goals to help her side to a 71-point win. Warnbro picked up their first win with the help of Olivia Crawford's 3 goals, beating Piara Waters by 26 points.

EGT Phil Scott Colts

University remains the only unbeaten side in the EGT Phil Scott Colts competition after four rounds, keeping their perfect record intact with a hard-fought 17-point win over Fremantle CBC — handing CBC their first loss of the season and dropping them to third on the ladder.

Curtin Uni Wesley continues to press University at the top, moving up to second, with a 33-point victory over Ocean Ridge, handing the Ridge their first loss of the season.

Trinity Aquinas made a statement in their 74-point win over Mt Lawley, with Rylan Candy putting on a show, kicking 4 goals alongside Finn Dethlefsen, 3. The win keeps Trinity Aquinas firmly in the top five conversation alongside Ocean Ridge and Fremantle CBC. North Beach did wonders for their percentage, dismantling Kingsway by 111 points in the round's most one-sided contest, setting themselves up to host Ocean Ridge in what shapes as the most even matchup of Round 5 in terms of form.

The result of the round, however, belonged to Baldivis, claiming their first-ever win in the EGT Phil Scott Colts competition — edging out Scarborough by just 4 points in a back-and-forth matchup that went down to the wire. Ruckman D'Antae Woods played a huge part in getting the Brumbies over the line, alongside Saxon Carr's run-and-gun approach out of the defensive 50. The win lifts Baldivis off the bottom of the table, leaving Scarborough and Kingsway as the only sides yet to register a win this season. Baldivis are in a strong position to keep the momentum rolling as they host Kingsway in Round 5.
