Kingsway 12.5 (77) defeated Trinity Aquinas 10.14 (74) 

Trinity Aquinas’ finals aspirations are now on life support after they went down in a thriller to 5th-placed Kingsway by three points in what was a must-win game for both sides. 

A Ryan Vermeersch major to bridge the margin to under a goal gave Roos supporters a nervous 90 seconds, but the home side held on. 

The Boomers mounted a third-quarter comeback after trailing by 24 points at halftime, bringing the margin to just four at the final break after a dominant eight-disposal quarter from midfielder Matthew Rodan. 

A Keenan Hooper goal from a set shot broke a run of behinds from both teams leading up to the 18th minute of the stalemate final quarter, setting up the Roos’ win. 

Kingsway spearhead Braydn Furmark was vital for his side once again, slotting three important majors. 

Kingsway now hold a 10-point-buffer on the ladder over Trinity Aquinas in sixth.

Curtin Uni Wesley 17.6 (108) defeated Baldivis 11.5 (71) 

A barnstorming eight-goal first term assured Curtin Uni Wesley would be back on the winners' list after last week’s defeat to North Beach, knocking off a gallant Baldivis by 37 points. 

The Brumbies would respond with five goals in the second quarter, but could not undo the damage done by Chris Leonard (seven disposals, two goals), Kyle Hamersley (2 goals) and Ethan Maguire (10 disposals) in the opening stanza. 

Lachlan Dennis again provided a solid target for the Tigers, kicking three of his four goals in a blistering third term, while Baldivis’ Jake Howes topped the disposal count with 23. 

The win keeps Cutin Uni Wesley in touch with rivals North Beach, who sit a game clear in second, while the Brumbies will have their eye on next week, facing up against 9th-placed Mt Lawley in what could be the second win of their maiden A Grade campaign. 

Ocean Ridge 8.4 (52) defeated by Fremantle CBC 13.12 (90) 

Not many tipsters would have favoured 3-10 Ocean Ridge against the 13-1 Fremantle CBC pregame. But the Eagles were breathing down CBC’s neck at three-quarter time, trailing by just two points and potentially a quarter away from one of the season’s biggest upsets. 

Any hope of a Cinderella story was snuffed out quickly though; the ladder-leading CBC would show their class in the last quarter, regaining control with a six-goal-to-one quarter to solidify a 38-point win. 

State representatives Matt Ward (34 disposals, 155 ranking points) and Nash Miller (9 marks, 150 ranking points) were crucial for the visitors in securing their 14th win of the season. 

Brodie Matthew Gray continued his incredible season for the Eagles, putting his side on his back with 41 disposals and 169 ranking points. 

CBC will travel to Charles Riley Reserve next week to face second-placed North Beach in a tantalising clash which could decide the minor premiership, while Ridge’s relegation chances still linger. 

Mt Lawley 7.5 (47) defeated by North Beach 17.10 (112) 

North Beach were rarely challenged at Inglewood Oval, emerging 66-point victors in the reigning premier’s seventh consecutive win. 

Mt Lawley had no answers for North Beach’s raw scoring power as the Tigers ran away with a 47-point half-time lead, having 53 more disposals than their opposition in the first half. 

Alexander Marklew headed to the top of the goalkicking table with a huge nine-goal performance, Matthew Germs controlled the ruck with 40 hitouts and captain Frank Anderson racked up another 34 disposals for North Beach. 

Archie Watt was the standout performer for the Hawks with 29 disposals, 13 marks and 166 ranking points. 

From opposite ends of the ladder, both teams have the most important games of their seasons ahead in round 16. 

9th-placed Mt Lawley hosts Baldivis in a bottom-of-the-table clash, while the Tigers will take on Fremantle CBC in a finals preview. 

A win and a Scarborough loss to Kingsway would propel the Hawks into safety on percentage and potentially see them stave off relegation. 

Meanwhile, a North Beach victory over CBC would put them in prime position to claim back-to-back premierships. 

Scarborough 8.5 (53) defeated by University 17.6 (108) 

A massive performance from former Claremont midfielder and dual Sandover Medalist Jye Bolton set up University’s commanding victory over Scarborough. 

University’s big-name recruit dominated, picking up 29 disposals and 114 ranking points as his team finished an easy winner. 

The Sea Eagles brought the margin back to seven points with six minutes remaining in the second quarter. But Uni would blow the game out in the second half, finishing as 55-point victors as they look to reassert themselves as premiership contenders. 

Troy Culloton (5 goals) and Jake Just (4 goals) gorged themselves on the proppy Scarborough defence. 

Louis Tangney was the pick of the players for the Sea Eagles with 22 disposals alongside Scott Tyers’ 3-goal effort.

Wembley 4.3 (27) defeated Curtin Uni Wesley 2.3 (15) 

Undefeated for 13 weeks, Curtin Uni Wesley have now dropped two games in a row. 

And they can blame some of it on Wembley superstar Parris Laurie. 

The multiple league best-and-fairest winner had 38 hitouts, 30 disposals and a staggering 199 ranking points in the ruck for the Magpies as they shocked the first-placed Tigers by two goals on Saturday afternoon. 

Phoebe Coulthard kicked the sole two majors of the second half courtesy of a couple of strong marks directly in front of goal, giving the Magpies an important win and keeping them in contention for a double chance in the upcoming finals. 

Paisley Prentice was Curtin Uni Wesley’s best with 22 disposals. 

The Tigers will need to return to their best this week if they are to snap their losing streak against third-place University. 

Melville 8.4 (52) defeated North Beach 5.3 (33) 

The Rams continued riding the wave of their recent good form with a 19-point victory over North Beach at Stock Road Oval. 

Isabella Strnadica was once again Melville’s best with 26 disposals and 136 ranking points. 

Rebekah Cornwill, with three goals, also stood up for the Rams, while North Beach’s Siénna Joubert topped her side’s disposals with 19. 

The win crucially propels Melville out of the relegation zone, leaping Baldivis into eighth. It surprisingly means A Grade stalwarts North Beach are now at risk of going down, especially if Baldivis manage to defeat Hamersley Carine this week. 

The Tigers face the mercurial Trinity Aquinas next week, who have astonishingly only conceded two points in their last two matches. 

Quinns District 0.1 (1) defeated by Trinity Aquinas 10.5 (65) 

There is a new leader in the Budget Car and Truck Rental A Grade Women. 

Trinity Aquinas have jumped up into first off the back of yet another defensive masterclass, this time against Quinns. 

The stats make for impressive reading for Boomers fans. For the second straight week, they held the opposition to just one behind. It is now the fifth time they have managed to avoid conceding a goal and their sixth win by over 50 points this season. 

Nadia Pisano (17 disposals, 89 ranking points) and Abbey Waddell (25 disposals) tore up Ridgewood Park for the visitors. 

Ella Fiest and Kaitlyn Roper each had seven tackles for the Bulls, but their pressure did not reflect on the scoreboard. 

The loss saw Quinns fall out of the top five, with an important game against the in-form Melville ahead in round 16 to keep their finals hopes alive. 

University led the way against Baldivis(Kiara Blake) 

University 5.12 (42) defeated Baldivis 1.1 (7) 

The Stormers kept the Brumbies scoreless for the opening three quarters in their 35-point victory at home. 

University’s Tarnica Stewart needed to be checked for leather poisoning post-game after she racked up 48 disposals, 11 inside 50s and 179 ranking points in her side’s win. 

Kesley Timms had 15 disposals for the visiting Baldivis, 13 of them contested, as she battled against the seasoned Uni midfielders. 

A crunch game looms for the Brumbies this week against last-placed Hamersley Carine as both sides look to take their last chances to avoid relegation. 

North Fremantle 9.7 (61) defeated Hamersley Carine 1.1 (7) 

North Fremantle climbed back into the top five with an assertive 54-point win over Hamersley Carine. 

Casey Byrne kicked three goals for the Magpies in their third consecutive win; meanwhile, the losses keep piling up for the Hawks, who have their most winnable game in weeks coming up at home against Baldivis this weekend. 

Tentatively sitting in fifth with Quinns District close by, the Magpies will have to negotiate a very tricky run ahead in their quest to extend their season, with games against premiership contenders Wembley, Trinity Aquinas and Curtin Uni Wesley upcoming. 

Budget Car and Truck Rental B Men 

Collegians 11.5 (71) defeated Brentwood Booragon 9.11 (65) 

Seven goals from Thomas Smirk powered Collegians to a surprise win over a firing Brentwood Booragon side, handing them their first loss since round 9. 

The defeat is an untimely one for the Bulldogs just weeks out of finals, sitting just four points clear in third spot with the double chance on the line. 

Still sitting in relegation, the victory keeps Collegians in contention to stay up following 8th-placed Bullcreek Leeming’s gripping one-point win over Kalamunda. 

The winner of the round 18 match between the two sides could well decide who remains in B Grade in what would be a thrilling conclusion to the home-and-away season. 

North Fremantle 18.12 (120) defeated West Coast 7.3 (45) 

A ruthless North Fremantle made it two big wins in a row, defeating West Coast by 75 points in a one-sided game at Gil Fraser Reserve. 

The Magpies piled on seven goals in the final quarter against the fifth-placed Tigers, who now sit on equal standing with 6th placed Swan Athletic heading into the season’s final fortnight. The sides will face off in the final round in a match which could determine the last spot in the finals. 

Ethan Paholski kicked six goals while John Sgherza backed up his bag of 12 last week with four in North Fremantle’s big win. 

Whitford 15.8 (98) defeated Cockburn Lakes 6.5 (41) 

Whitford showed why they are top of the A Grade tree, dismantling fourth-placed Cockburn Lakes by 57 points at MacDonald Reserve. 

Ben Mountford kicked four majors for the home side in his best return for the season, and Max Walters kicked three, making it seven goals in the last fortnight for the forward. 

Whitford will be hoping to further bolster their percentage this week against Melville. Cockburn Lakes, on the contrary, will be happy with just the four points against finals aspirants West Coast as they look to catch Brentwood Booragon in third. 

Kalamunda 8.10 (58) defeated by Bullcreek Leeming 9.5 (59) 

Kalamunda’s finals chances received a stinging blow, falling by a point to Bullcreek Leeming after giving up the first five goals of the game. 

The Cougars were goalless at quarter time but found themselves ahead at the half; however, the Bombers would wrestle back the lead and hold on for a thrilling win at Ray Owen Reserve. 

Bombers fans won’t have any fingernails left after two weeks of close calls, playing out a draw with first-placed Whitford the week prior. 

It was their first win in a month, and timely too, as their relegation battle with Collegians heats up. 

Bullcreek Leeming will be hoping Kalamunda does them a favour and beats Collegians next week in a match for the Cougars which is a necessity if they are to sneak into the finals. 

Swan Athletic 17.14 (116) defeated Melville 9.3 (57) 

Swan Athletic are now only percentage out of the top five after accounting for Melville by 59 points at home. 

Coming off an 189-point defeat last week, an improved Rams outfit got within one point of the lead with just seconds to go in the second quarter. 

A six-goal third-quarter surge from the home side wiped out any chance of a Melville win however, as Swan Athletic stormed home for a big win in their push to feature in September. 

Oliver Sills kicked three majors for the home side, who will host once again next week against Brentwood Booragoon. 

Budget Car and Truck Rental B Grade Women 

Kaylin Geelhoed had a day out for Rossmoyne, kicking five goals in their comfortable 43-point win over Collegians, relegation now confirmed for the Collies alongside Piara Waters. 

The Falcons haven’t had much joy in B Grade so far, and that continued in Saturday’s 70-point loss to Kelmscott. The Bulldogs led by 51 at half-time but were stalled in a solid second half from Piara Waters, which saw them hit the scoreboard in each quarter. 

Second-placed Swan Athletic were pushed hard by Ocean Ridge, but the Swans did enough to win and hold second spot, getting home by 21 points over the Eagles in a potential finals preview. 

The battle of the spearhead was firmly won by Jacinta Stevens and her Bullcreek Leeming side, the forward kicking another four goals in the Bombers’ 40-point win over Kwinana; Teah Taylor of the Knights held goalless after her sublime nine-goal effort last week. 

Ladder leaders Scarborough trailed at quarter time but kicked the last nine goals of the game to defeat Warnbro by 53 points, Chloe Metcalf leading the way for the Sea Eagles with three goals. 

The pick of the last round of matches ahead of finals sees 5th-placed Ocean Ridge facing 3rd-placed Bullcreek Leeming. 

The Bombers will need to win and hope Swan Athletic goes down to Collegians to take second, while Kwinana will be relying on a Bullcreek Leeming loss and a win of their own to propel them up to third and the double chance. 

Budget Car and Truck Rental C1 Men

There is a pulse to Cockburn Cobras' season after they knocked off the more fancied Kwinana by 19 points. 

The Cobras cantered home with four final-quarter goals in a win that puts them only six points adrift of the Knights with two games to come. 

Bailey Snook kicked three for the home side as they continue their last-ditch effort to make the top five. 

Under the lights of Pat Goodridge Reserve, Wembley handed Thornlie their third straight loss, finishing 37 points ahead at the final siren. 

A wasteful Magpies side arrived at the half having only managed four goals from their sixteen scoring shots, but still held a 13-point lead. 

They would find their radar in the second half though, kicking eight goals to sink the competitive Lions. 

Josh Richards continued his mercurial season in front of the big sticks with another three goals, bringing his tally to 71 for the season. 

Sitting four points behind Hamersley Carine and with an inferior percentage, Thornlie will now need to beat the undefeated Wanneroo and Mosman Park and hope the Hawks go down to a fired-up Cockburn Cobras this weekend and the Roos in their final game to claim third spot back. 

With results going their way, the double chance is now Hamersley Carine’s to lose after the Hawks comfortably dealt with Mosman Park by 46 points. 

Scoreless at quarter time, the Mozzies responded with four majors in the second quarter, but they would only add three for the remainder of the match as Hamersley Carine put the clamps on defensively. 

Max Dennis kicked five for the Hawks in a shootout with Joshua Barnett of Mosman Park, whose 5 majors rounded out his 19th in the last four weeks. 

Wanneroo’s undefeated run rolled on, a 97-point win over Quinns District a setback for the Bulls in their effort to avoid relegation. 

Holding their opposition to just two goals, Ashlen Braidwood outscored Quinns with five majors in a victory that nearly wraps up the minor premiership for the Roos. 

Forrestdale’s flurry to finish the season continued with a comfortable win over Jandakot at William Skeet Oval for the Falcons’ third straight victory. 

Preston Roach and Mitchell Western kicked three goals each for the home side, while Matthew Armstrong and Harry Kerrison fought hard for the Jets with two majors apiece.
