Scarborough finish as minor premiers in A Grade

Scarborough have finished as minor premiers in the A Grade competition for the first time since being elevated into the grade at the end of 2015. Scarborough lost just one match this season against Fremantle CBC in Round 7 and finished two wins clear of second place. The side has finished fourth the past two seasons making the Grand Final in 2016 but were knocked out early last season losing to eventual premiers Trinity Aquinas in the Elimination Final.

Grand Final spots up for grabs in Women's Competition

A spot in the Grand Final is up for grabs this Saturday 18 August in both the A and B Grade Women’s finals held at Lightning Park, Noranda. Curtin Uni Wesley and West Coast will be looking to secure a Grand Final spot in the A Grade competition while Rossmoyne and Cottesloe look to be the first to make the B Grade grand final.

Skill Hire Finals Series kicks off for 19 grades

The 2018 Skill Hire Finals Series begins this Saturday 18 August for Men's Grades B and below. Fifty-one clubs have made their way into finals so far with North Beach (D1, D1R, E2, BJC, WA) leading the way with five teams into finals already while Ballajura (C1, C1R, IDC, E3), Fremantle CBC (D1, D1R, E2, BJC), North Fremantle (B, BR, D1, DBC), Ocean Ridge (C2, C2R, E2, LKC) Swan Athletic (B, BR, E1, DBC), University (D1, D1R, BJC, WA) and Whitford (B, BR, DBC, BJC) all have four teams through so far.

Dale Rakich reaches 400 games for the West Coast AFC

Long-time West Coast Amateur Football Club member Dale Rakich will play his 400th game this Saturday 11 August at City Beach Oval. ‘Rakka’ as he is known around the club started his playing career for West Coast in the colts where he went on to represent the WAAFL in the State Colts program. In 1999 he won a Best and Fairest Award before joining the committee from 2000 - 2005 holding roles such as secretary and treasurer as well as being president from 2003 - 2005.

Justin Dolin umpires 900th match

In 2018, Goal Umpire Justin Dolin celebrated a major milestone when he umpired his 900th WAAFL/SFL game, 800th WAAFL match as well as his 250th A Grade game. Justin’s association with the WAAFL began when he left school in 1975. He played a handful of games for Trinity Old Boys before study took over.

Lynwood Ferndale’s Brendan Wainwright reaches 300 games

Lynwood Ferndale player and current president Brendan Wainwright will reach 300 games this Saturday at Ferndale Park. Brendan started playing juniors at Lynwood Ferndale in 1995 before starting colts’ football in 2001. He won the reserves best and fairest in 2003, 2013 and 2014.

Kingsley’s James Lowrie celebrates game 350

D1 Reserves player James Lowrie is pulling on the boots for the 350th time in Kingsley colours this weekend. His senior football career commenced in 1996 when Kingsley were in the Sunday Hills comp and Robinson Reserve in Osborne Park was their Home ground. James (Laz) had been travelling around Australia, returning to Perth to work and sharing a house with some Kingsley players. He was invited down for a kick and is now still running around with his mates on the weekends.

Wembley hold ‘Man Enough Day’ to remember former teammate

On Saturday 28 July the Wembley Football Club will be swapping their white ‘V’ for teal as the club teams up with the Happiness Co and their ‘Man Enough’ Movement to educate and spread awareness about men’s health. The Round 15 match at Wembley Sports Complex is being dedicated to former teammate Tim Grylls who tragically passed away last year.
