New Reserves Grade Introduced to PFL Toyota A Grade Women's Competition Thu, March 28, 2024 - 2:57 PM

Women’s footy in the Perth Football League has taken a significant stride forward with the introduction of the Toyota A Grade Reserves, aimed at providing enhanced opportunities for players and clubs alike. This move comes in consultation with PFL clubs, particularly those with two women's teams expressing a desire for their teams to be aligned on game day.

With 68 women's teams set to participate in the upcoming season, this development marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing growth and development of women's football.

The decision to introduce the Toyota A Grade Reserves stemmed from feedback received from clubs, particularly those managing multiple women's teams. This approach will support PFL clubs to improve their utilisation of resources such as coaching staff, facilities, equipment, and support personnel.

Perth Football League CEO Andrew Dawe said, "The introduction of the Toyota A Grade Reserves reflects our commitment to providing the best possible experience for our players and clubs. We've listened to the feedback from our stakeholders, and this move is a proactive step towards meeting their needs and fostering the continued growth of women's football in Perth."

Dawe further added, "Our focus is on creating a sustainable competition that caters to the diverse needs of our participants. By offering a Toyota A Grade Reserves grade, we're not only providing more playing opportunities but also enhancing player development and ensuring a pathway to the elite level for women. We hope to see continued growth in our clubs and will aim to add reserves to other grades in coming seasons."

The following nine clubs will participate in the Toyota A Grade and A Reserves competitions:
Curtin Uni Wesley, Kingsley, Melville, North Beach, North Fremantle, Rossmoyne, University, Warnbro and Wembley.
